Marie A. Underhill-Vercellini

Marie A. (Borgesi) Underhill-Vercellini, 79, of Amesbury, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 6, 2024. She was born to Angelina (Scala) and John Borgesi, both of whom were born in Italy, on May 2, 1944, in Methuen, MA. She was the wife of Stephen Vercellini for over twenty years. 

Born and raised in the "Valley," Marie was a graduate of Tenney Memorial High School, class of 1962. She later graduated from Northern Essex Community College. She was employed by Wang Labs/Getronics and Compucom for over 24 years before retiring in 2007. She received numerous awards throughout the years for her hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence. She was a lifelong member of St. Lucy Church where she taught CCD to children, and she later volunteered at Haverhill City Hall and schools in the area. 

Remembered as the most loving and caring individual, Marie was wonderfully wise, hilariously humorous, courageous, and compassionate. She touched the lives of all who were lucky enough to know her. She lived her life full of gratitude and love for all. She was a bright light even during challenging times. 

A devout Catholic with enduring faith who only chose to see the goodness and positivity in life. She loved music, dancing, going to the beach, casino, and concerts but most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren who were the loves of her life. She wanted everyone to know that being with her family were the "best" times of her life. She looked forward every year to the annual beach vacation with her children and grandchildren. 

Marie is survived by and will be greatly missed by her daughters, Lynn Underhill, and her husband, Doug Bonanno of Hampton, NH, Beth Mitchell, and her husband, Alberto Santiago of North Andover, MA, and Cathy Underhill of Bradford, MA; their late father, Richard "Dick" Underhill; siblings, Ann Evans and her husband Reese Evans of Newton, NH and Joseph Borgesi and his wife Lois Borgesi of Newton, NH; grandchildren, Katrina, Chantal, Jilli, Abby and Matty; and several nieces and nephews; and her husband Stephen's children and grandchildren. She also leaves many lifelong friends, especially her best friend of 65 years, Joan Long of Bradford, MA. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie's name may be made to St. Ann's Home & School, 100A Haverhill Street, Methuen, MA, 01844. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, April 11, 2024, between 4:00-7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 11:30 AM at St. Michael Church, 196 Main Street, North Andover, MA.
