Marie A. LaCarubba

April 23, 1923 ~ February 12, 2019 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Tribute

Marie A. (Vetrano) LaCarubba, 95, formerly of Methuen, left the loving embrace of her family on February 12, 2019.

Marie was born on April 23, 1923 to the late Achille and Antonetta (Fargnoli) Vetrano. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1940 and attended Bryant McIntosh School of Business. She worked as a sales clerk at Cherry & Webb before becoming an internal auditor at First Essex Savings Bank, where she retired from in 1985 after fifteen years of service. She stayed active in her retirement, volunteering in the Methuen Senior Center gift shop for many years.

Marie lived in the Merrimack Valley her entire life and possessed an almost encyclopedic knowledge of the various families from the area and their respective lineages. However, it was her own family that brought purpose and passion to her life. She enjoyed cooking delicious Italian meals for her loved ones and attending the many activities of her grandsons. She also enjoyed watching movies of the 1930s and 1940s and signing along to the music of that era.

Marie was predeceased by her husband of thirty-three years, Joseph C. LaCarubba; and her devoted daughter, Paula R. Thompson; as well as her siblings, Angelo Vetrano, Gildo Vetrano, Rose Lucinskas, and Anne Angelari. She is survived by her son-in-law, Arthur L. Thompson of Seabrook Beach, NH; grandson, Shaun Thompson and his wife, Amy (Judge) of Stratham, NH; grandson, Ryan Thompson of Hamden, CT; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Brady, and Devin Thompson of Stratham, NH; sisters-in-law Mary T. (LaCarubba) Rapisardi of Methuen, MA and Tina LaCarubba of Haverhill, MA; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Ivy Hill Court in Haverhill, MA for their compassionate care in Marie’s later years.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Monday, February 18, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, www.holeinthewallgang.org or a charity of one’s choice.
