Maria (Tomarchio) Venti passed peacefully at Prescott House in North Andover, MA on June 2, 2019, at the age of 93, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
Born on November 12, 1925, in Viagrande, Sicily, Italy, Maria was the fourth of ten children of Mauro and Carmela (Priolo) Tomarchio. She married Antonio Venti in 1960 and immigrated to the U.S. shortly after. Maria spent many years working alongside Tony at the Campbell and Venti Flower Shop on Essex Street in Lawrence. Later, she worked for many years as a visiting home health aide, bringing companionship and comfort to her clients.
Maria was an avid gardener and exceptional cook, as well as a skilled seamstress and talented knitter. She was a selfless individual who cherished her three grandchildren above all else. She was a dedicated member of Corpus Christi Parish and took great comfort from saying the Rosary.
Maria is survived by her daughter, Gina and husband, Richard O'Leary of Methuen, and her grandchildren, Anthony O'Leary and his fiancée, Mandy Baril of Andover, Nicolas O'Leary and Carolyn O'Leary, both of Methuen. She also leaves a sister, Antonina Caruso of Lawrence and several nieces and nephews, both here and in Sicily. Maria was preceded in death by her loving husband, Antonio Venti, her parents, and several brothers and sisters.
The family is grateful to the staff of Prescott House Memory Care Unit for the compassionate and loving care Maria received.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, from 4:00–8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at 10:00 AM in Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex Street in Lawrence. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Maria's life.
