Maria B. Gallo
June 21, 1921 ~ November 14, 2019 (age 98) 98 Years Old
Maria B. (Buonanno) Gallo, 98, of Lawrence, MA, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 14, 2019, with her loved ones by her side. She was the wife of Armand Gallo with whom she shared forty-seven wonderful years in marriage.
Born and raised in Roccamonfina, Italy, Maria was the eldest daughter of Antonio and Clelia (Bosso) Buonanno. It was there that she married her husband, Armand Gallo, and together they immigrated to the United States where they worked hard, raised a family and prospered. Upon arrival in the United States they settled in Lawrence, MA, where Maria found work in the local clothing mills. Later she went on to work for Western Electric, retiring in 1986 so that she could help care for her first grandchild.
Maria was a wonderful mother and grandmother, who dedicated her life to her children. She was a strong woman and an inspiration to each member of her family, both here and in Italy. Her strength in the face of adversity was unwavering. For those who loved her, she was a hero, leaving a legacy of strong family values, moral fortitude and boundless unconditional love.
She is survived by her two daughters, Joyce Gallo Teggart and her husband David of Northborough, MA, Anna Gallo Knight and her husband Larry of Hudson, NH; her beloved grandchildren Amanda, David, Lauren, Michael; and her sister Elena Palmieri, who was her constant companion and compassionate caregiver for the last several years of her life. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, both here in the United States and in Italy. Maria was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her siblings, Amalia, Paolo, Anna, and Renato, all of Italy.
Maria’s family would like to express a special thank you to her nephews, Plinio Palmeri, and Fernando Iannuccilli for all the help they have provided throughout the years.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours on Sunday, November 17, 2019 between the hours of 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. A funeral mass will be held privately by her family.
