Maria M. Finochiaro

Maria M. (Oviedo-Velazquez) Finochiaro, 87, of Methuen, MA, passed away May 3, 2022 at Holy Family Hospital, Methuen.  She was born in La Coruna, Spain where she was raised and educated. 
  
Maria worked as a nurse in La Coruna, Spain and Catania, Sicily for many years.  She met her husband in Sicily and came to Lawrence to start a family. She worked at Lawrence General Hospital for 30 years in the housekeeping department until she retired in 2007. She moved to Methuen in 2010 to live with her daughter and family. 
  
Maria always made people smile and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  She had a passion for cooking and found joy in making food for others. She liked singing, knitting, sewing and spending time with her two “little buddies,” her cats.  
  
Maria was predeceased by her mother, Milagros Velazquez-Cividanes, and her husband, Thomas J. Finochiaro. 
  
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Creamer and her husband Matthew of Methuen; sister, Maribel Rivas-Velazquez of Spain; her grandchildren, Thomas and Madailein Creamer of Methuen; her sister-in-law Emily Sewasky and husband Edward of Methuen and several nieces and nephews.  
  
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, May 9, 2022, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen.  Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen.  Entombment will be in St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Mausoleum.
