Mabel Beatrice Lavayen, 65, of Lawrence, MA, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen due to the COVID-19 virus. Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, she is the daughter of Andrea (Tomala) Lavayen and the late Aurelio Olmedo Lavayen .

Raised and educated in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Mabel received her bachelor’s degree in psychology. She devoted her time with helping people at Erich Lindemann Mental Health Center. Mabel was such an amazing, caring, beautiful soul. She enjoyed spending as much time possible with her family and also loved to spend her free time helping out within the community. She was always so happy and wanted to share her beautiful smile with the people around her. Mabel was such an amazing person, she was so easy to talk to and always had the perfect words to say whenever you needed some guidance. It is through those lessons and tremendous love that Mabel’s memory will live on in those who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family is truly sadden that she is no longer here, but will always cherish the wonderful memories of her.

She was predeceased by her father, Aurelio Olmedo Lavayen.

Mabel is survived by her mother, Andrea (Tomala) Lavayen; her siblings: Mercedes Peralta and her husband, Fernando, Gloria Peralta, Luis Lavayen and his wife, Nancy Villamar, Angela I. Lavayen, Olga Lavayen, and Virginia Garcia and her husband, Gonzalo, all of Lawrence. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephews, cousins, and several extended family and friends.

Due to the current health situation, the funeral and burial services are private with the assistance of Cataudella Funeral Home in Methuen.
