Lorenzina “Laura” (Catalano) Scalisi, 102, of Methuen passed away peacefully at Nevins Nursing Home in Methuen on Monday, October 8, 2018.
Laura was born in Lawrence on August 30, 1916 to the late Salvatore and Angelina (Messina) Catalano. She was employed as a stitcher for the Lawrence Mills. She enjoyed singing, baking, and cooking. But most of all, Laura was the happiest when surrounded by her family. There was no greater joy than her grandchildren and later great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Antonio Scalisi; siblings, Agatina Scalisi, Anna Cottone, and Mary Parisi.
Laura is survived by her sons, Nicholas Scalisi and his wife, Betty of Methuen, Salvatore Scalisi and his wife, Carol of Methuen; sister, Nicholina Catalano; grandchildren, Karen Lowe and her husband, David, Debra Karantonis and her husband, Michael, Donna Freeman and her husband, Gerald Freeman, Jr., Vicki Scalisi, Jana Scalisi, Mark Scalisi and his wife, Kathleen; eight great-grandchildren, Joshua, Rebecca, Niko, William, Christian, Jacob, Stella, and Anthony; as well many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 9:00-12:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral service will follow calling hours at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence.
