Leonilda Evy Salvo

Leonilda A. 'Evy' (Franco) Salvo, 98, a longtime Lawrence, MA resident passed away peacefully on Monday, September 16, 2019 at Mary Immaculate Nursing Center in Lawrence. She was the beloved wife of Vito L. Salvo with whom she shared sixty-nine wonderful years in marriage.

Born, raised and educated in Lawrence, the daughter of the late Joseph and Angela (Rignoli) Franco, Evy graduated from Lawrence High School, class of 1937. In 1942, Evy and Vito where married at Holy Rosary Church, shortly before Vito enlisted in the Military and was transferred to Dayton, OH where they made their home for a short time. Soon after they returned to Lawrence, where they settled happily, creating a beautiful home that was always inviting to family and friends. Prior to deciding to stay at home to provide for her husband and son, Evy enjoyed knitting for Lawrence Mills.

Evy and Vito enjoyed trips to Italy, Switzerland, Germany, France, and took pleasure in traveling cross-country on more than one occasion. She will be remembered for all her kindness to so many people. During her life, it was always clear that her family was her priority. She loved to spend time with them and was always there for them. She was especially thankful for the times with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they were her world.

She was predeceased by her husband, Vito Salvo; and siblings, Lena Cippola and James Franco.

Evy is survived by her son, Richard Salvo, Sr. and his wife, Sandra of Fremont, NH; two grandsons, Richard Salvo, Jr., and his wife, Crystal, and Michael Salvo and his wife, Dawn; three great-grandchildren, Kristyn Bedard and her husband, Kevin, Zakkery Salvo and his companion, Nicole, and Brooke Salvo; one sister, Eleanor Diodati; niece, Maryann Murray; and nephew, Lawrence Cippola.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, September 19, 2019, between the hours of 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral mass for Evy will be celebrated on Friday, September 20, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex Street in Lawrence. Burial will follow in St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
