Leila Najib Khoury (born Leila Chafiq Haddad) passed away peacefully on May 5, 2021, at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. She was born in Maghdouche (South Lebanon) in 1934, where she raised a family of five as she worked side by side with her husband during hard economic conditions.
In the wake of the civil war spreading into South Lebanon in 1985, she immigrated to New York where she worked at the Lebanese Mission to the UN for over five years and managed to provide with her husband the proper education for her younger children. She settled afterwards in Methuen and never stopped supporting her family.
She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, caring great-grandmother, and a capable hard working woman.
She is survived by her husband, Najib (92) and her children, Elias and his wife Louma, Hayat and her husband Maroun Hayek, May and her husband Georges Costantine, Majeda and her husband Adel Hayek and Daisy and her husband George Saab. She was proud of her fifteen grandchildren, Veronique, Eve, Berna, Carolyn, Mariana, Mary, Elina, Elizabeth, Adam, Matthew, Jean, Carroll, Sharbel, Elias, and John. She adored her many great-grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow.
May her memory be eternal.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to St. Joseph Melkite Greek Catholic Church, 241 Hampshire Street, Lawrence, MA 01841.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, May 8, 2021, from 9:30–11:00 AM at St. Joseph Melkite Greek Catholic Church, 241 Hampshire St., Lawrence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in United Lebanese Cemetery, Lawrence.
As of the latest update, we are able to offer visitation periods and funeral services in the funeral home or at a church.
·Please be mindful during visiting hours to keep your condolences brief so that others may offer theirs as well.
·Gathering in the lobby is not allowed so that we may adhere to health code mandates.
·Facemasks are required while inside the funeral home or church.
