Kirk T. Foley
December 10, 1941 ~ August 3, 2018 (age 76) 76 Years Old
Kirk Thomas Foley, 76, of Haverhill, MA passed away peacefully on August 3, 2018 at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, MA as a result of Alzheimer’s Disease. Throughout his illness, and in spite of the challenges it presented, he maintained the good nature that was true to the person he was throughout his life.
A humble man of many talents, Kirk was gifted in intellect with a sparkling wit and a generous heart, who enjoyed nothing more than explaining how just about anything works. His favorite pastime was a game of golf with his wife, Rose Marie, and he taught many family members and friends the importance of the right stance and a good grip.
Born in New Britain, CT, Kirk grew up in Simsbury, CT. He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy and Trinity College. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during the Johnson Administration, responsible for establishing communications lines when the President traveled from the White House. His professional career was devoted to the insurance industry, beginning with The Hartford Group. After his tenure at The Hartford, he became a Vice President at Fred S. James. He retired from Consolidated Insurance Group in 2006. He was a dedicated volunteer for many years at Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, MA, and traveled to New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to volunteer with the Red Cross.
The family would like to acknowledge the amazing day care senior class in Hampstead, NH as well the wonderful rehab care the nurses at the Prescott House in North Andover. A special thank you to the Edith Nourse Rogers Veterans Hospital for their impeccable attention paid to Kirk.
Kirk leaves his loving and supportive wife of twenty-eight years, Rose Marie, whose devotion saw no bounds in keeping her beloved husband active and involved socially and a part of all family activities. He is survived by his sisters, Sharon Mulligan of Manchester, CT, and Althea Masterson of Gorham, ME; a daughter, Jennifer Picone (Vincent) of Melrose, MA; a son, Mark Foley (Maureen) of Cedar Park, TX; his stepchildren, Cindy Parolisi of East Hampstead, NH, and Joe Parolisi (Lori) of Salisbury, MA; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
A service in celebration of Kirk’s life will take place on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 10 AM at West Church, 767 Broadway, Haverhill, MA 01832 followed by burial at Bellevue Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Kirk’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation at www.alz.org or join a Walk to End Alzheimer’s in your area. Walk locations are listed at www.act.alz.org.
