Joseph G. Santangelo

Tribute

Joseph Santangelo, of Methuen, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2020.

Raised in Lawrence, Joseph’s love of music, especially Swing and Jazz, propelled him to become a musician, where as a professional drummer in the 1940s and 1950s he played locally and nationally with several Big Bands. He met and married the vocalist in the band, Lenore Lee.
Joseph resided in Methuen for his entire life.

He owned and operated New England Piano and Organ Company in the former Methuen Mall for many years. Joe loved spending the winters in Florida visiting his daughter Lenore and her late husband. He also loved hanging out with the guys over the years at Methuen’s Heavenly Donuts, but most of all he loved being surrounded by his family.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lenore M. (Loffredo) Santangelo, with whom he shared fifty-five years of marriage.

Mr. Santangelo is survived by his loving companion of seventeen years, Diana Perruccio of Methuen; two daughters, Lenore Mascar of FL, and Joyce Ann Santangelo of Boston; step-children, Salvatore Perruccio and his wife, Glynnis, Ann Marie Kater and her husband, Michael, Francine Baggett, and Christina Vogl and her husband, John; nieces and nephews Joan and Charles Antonelli and Karen and Mark White. In addition, he leaves behind several step-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Monday, February 10, 2020, from 11:00-1:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. Funeral services will be held following calling hours at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
