Joseph M. Reese, Jr.

Joseph M. Reese, Jr., 91, of Lawrence, MA, peacefully passed away on September 17, 2022, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 21, 1930, in Rockaway, NJ, he was the son to the late Joseph M. and Mary C. (Granda) Reese. His sisters, Elizabeth Mohr and Anne Reese predeceased him.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend,Joseph was a very gentle, soft-spoken man who loved his family more than anything. He was a veteran of the Third United States Army and a graduate of Syracuse University. He was the former owner of Reese Fuel Service and Reese Trucking. He worked in the insurance industry before retiring in 2005. Joseph enjoyed gardening, being with family, and cheering for Syracuse basketball.

Joseph will be deeply missed and is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Thelma (Reed) Reese; his two children: Robert J. Reese of Mount Bethel, PA, and Dr. Catherine Reese and her husband Sean Neilon of Charlestown, MA; as well as his beloved grandson, Joseph P. Neilon; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joseph’s honor to the American Heart Association or the American Liver Foundation.
