Joseph P. “Breadman” McLaughlin, 66, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Caritas Holy Family Hospital in Methuen surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved son of the late James E. and Margaret (Silk) McLaughlin.
Joe was a graduate of St. Mary High School, Leicester Junior College, and Merrimack College. He worked for over thirty years at J.J. Nissen Baking Company as a delivery driver.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Methuen. Mr. McLaughlin enjoyed all the Boston sports teams, playing hockey, scuba diving, darts, and mostly spending time with his family and beloved dog, Maxx. Joe had a very unique sense of humor and witty personality, always showing his love for others with his uncanny nicknames.
He is predeceased by his loving wife of thirty years, Carol Lee (Cashman) McLaughlin; and brothers, James E. McLaughlin, III and William G. McLaughlin.
Joe will be sadly missed by his daughter, Allison J. Battis and her husband, Scott of Atkinson, NH; son, Mark J. McLaughlin and his wife, Shelby of Salem, NH; grandchildren, Sydney Lee Battis, Carter and Julie McLaughlin. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. His funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 16, 2018 at St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory may be made to Salem Animal Rescue League, 4 SARL Drive, Salem, NH 03079.
