Joseph S. LaGrasse

Joseph S. LaGrasse, 101, of Warner, NH, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2019, at Pine Rock Manor in Warner, NH. Born on June 12, 1918 in Lawrence, MA, he was the son of the late Domenico and Antoinette (Titone) LaGrasse.

The country and the Merrimack Valley has lost another honored and decorated WWII veteran. While serving in the United States Army, he fought in Guadal Canal and Bougenville. Sargent LaGrasse was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, combat battle stars and several citations for bravery. He was a highly decorated WWII veteran. Joe also enjoyed gardening, visiting Rockingham Race Track, playing cards, most especially poker, and spending time with family and friends.

Joseph, affectionally known as “Chippy,” was predeceased by his parents, Domenico and Antoinette (Titone) LaGrasse; his sisters and brothers, Kay Cavarra, Marion Manzi and Frances Tuccarella, Gaspar “Gus,” Michael and James. In addition, he was predeceased by his wives, Rose (Lacarubba,) Marion (Gordon,) and Dora (Perrotta) LaGrasse.

Joseph is survived by his two sons, Joseph LaGrasse and his wife, Lila, of North Andover and Robert LaGrasse and his wife, Paula, of Venice, FL; his three daughters, Cheryl LaGrasse Prunier of Augusta, GA, Susan LaGrasse of Andover, Diane LaGrasse of Andover; and stepdaughter, Donna Luciano of North Andover. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to thank Pine Rock Manor in Warner, NH for their compassion and care given to Joe in his final days.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, August 25, 2019, from 1:00-5:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral service will be held Monday, August 26, 2019, at 10:30 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial to follow at St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
