Joseph W Blanchard

Joseph W. Blanchard, 81, a longtime Lawrence, MA, resident passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Marilyn J. (Emery) Blanchard.

Born in Lynn, MA, Joseph was raised in Lawrence, one of five children of John C. and Gertrude Eleanor (Joseph) Blanchard. As a young man, Joseph began working in the trucking industry, first with Melucci Trucking and then later spent many years driving for Coady’s Towing until his retirement.

A hard working man, Joseph was not one to sit idle for very long, always looking for something to fix or ways to help others. Always one to put others first, he most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. A loyal New England Patriot’s and Red Sox fan, Joseph also enjoyed taking trips down to Foxwoods Casino taking opportunity to do a little gambling. More than anything Joseph loved his family and his many hours with them on their many trips to Disney World as these times assured the presence of his entire family. Remembered as a selfless man, Joseph loved to make sure that his children, grandchildren, and family were without want.

In addition to his wife Marilyn, Joseph is survived by his children: Jean-Anne Blanchard of Lawrence, Patricia Melvin and her husband Peter of Methuen; grandchildren: Jacklyn Mckenzie, and husband Mark, Aidan Blanchard, Rebecca Melvin and her fiancé Paul Maguire; great-grandchildren: Jamison Mckenzie, Justin Mckenzie; brothers: George Blanchard and his wife Lee of Methuen, James Blanchard and his wife Deborah of Raymond, NH; sister-in-law Hope Blanchard; Beloved cousin's Kim, John & Lynne as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John Blanchard and sister Anne Blanchard.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visitation hours between the hours of 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Sunday, October 13, 2019, at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen.
