Joseph "Wally" Arsenault

Joseph Walter “Wally” Arsenault, age 91, of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 27, 2023, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Arlene L. (Nartiff) Arsenault with whom he shared many wonderful years in marriage.

Born and raised in Lawrence, MA, the son of the late Frank and Mary Jane (Perry) Arsenault, Wally was a graduate of Lawrence High School, class of 1951. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1955. Soon after, he became a Lawrence Fire Fighter for thirty-three years until his retirement. Wally lived in Lawrence until 1988, when he moved to Methuen.

Always with a project or two to keep himself busy, Wally often offered his help to family and friends thanks to his handyman talents. He was mechanically inclined with any home project, repair, or otherwise. If help was needed, family and friends turned to Wally.

With a kind soul, Wally loved time spent with family and friends. He looked forward to being with his family, especially during the holidays, as those memories meant so much to him.

Wally was predeceased by his five siblings, Roy Arsenault, Marie Gallant, Elmer Arsenault, Francis Arsenault, and Doris Langtry.

In addition to his wife, Arlene, he is survived by his children, Grace Ann Lapointe and her husband Michael of Salem, NH, Michael Toohey and his wife Charlene of Salem, NH, Kathleen Toohey of Windham, NH, Elizabeth Fawcett and her husband Bryan of Lowell, MA; two grandchildren Jason Lapointe, Melissa Child and her husband Michael; two great-grandchildren, Alexandria Child, Emily Child; and many nieces and nephews.

Wally was blessed to have the special friendship of the Regan family, Thomas, Margaret, Delia and Tommy. Wally’s family is forever grateful for the love, compassion and kindness given over many years.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, March 30, 2023, between 4:00-7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Peasant Valley Street, Methuen, MA. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 31, 2023, at 11:30 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 115 Wheeler Road, Dracut, MA. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen, MA.
