Joseph R. Aiello
March 2, 1942 ~ January 15, 2019 (age 76) 76 Years Old
Joseph R. Aiello, 76 of Methuen, passed away unexpectedly, on Tuesday, January 15, 2019.
Born and raised in Lawrence, Joe was one of two sons born to the late Joseph and Ida (Vasta) Aiello. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics from St. Michael’s College in Vermont. After graduation, Joe joined the United States Air Force and attained the rank of captain. He was a proud American that continued his service in the military as a reservist. Upon his discharge from the United States Air Force, Joe worked as a computer programmer at AVCO for over twenty years, until he followed his true passion as a carpenter and cabinetmaker who could make anything you asked for. He loved woodworking and loved to design and build both useful and creative things.
He was a very sweet, genuine and smart man, and will always be remembered for being a private person who appreciated his family and close friends. He always enjoyed home cooked meals, especially dinner on Christmas Eve; he said he would rather eat that meal than get a gift.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was pre-deceased by his brother, Tony Aiello. Joe is lovingly survived by his cousins, Josie and Chanel Simard and their children, especially Cynthia Garron, his godchild, Rene Simard, Paul Simard, and Catherine Todd and Frannie and Jay Bernier and her sons, Kenny Parks and Adam Risden, Anthony Pappalardo, and his wife Barbara McGonagle, Susan Pappalardo and her partner Paul Davis, Jay Pappalardo and his children, Domenic and Luca Pappalardo; life-long friends, Tony Palmisano, Eddie Schroeder, Art and Phyllis Ford, Kristen Ford, and Pam Kneeslide; he will also be missed by Don Goulet, and his Sunday Morning Breakfast Group at Al’s Diner, as well as his friend Luis Polanco.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Visiting Hours on Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence.
