John J. Smerdon
December 17, 1964 ~ April 16, 2021 (age 56) 56 Years Old
John J. Smerdon, 56, of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully at Massachusetts General Hospital on Friday, April 16, 2021, with his wife, children, and family by his side. Born on December 17, 1964, in Lawrence, MA, he was the son of Russell and Helen Smerdon and the beloved husband of Lori (Baudo) Smerdon with whom he shared twenty-seven wonderful years of marriage. In addition to his wife, John is also survived by his children, Daniel Smerdon of Methuen, MA and Samantha Smerdon and her fiancé Tyler Rondeau of Derry, NH. John was a very loving and dedicated father who adored both his children.
John worked for twenty-eight years at Yoplait/Colombo in Methuen and then obtained his CDL License and drove for Old Dominion Freight Line in Dracut, MA.
John really enjoyed his life with his family and friends and his favorite pastime was to watch many shows about cars, motorcycles and Nascar. He especially enjoyed going to the races in Loudon along with drag racing at New England Dragway.
One of John’s favorite things to do was to ride his Harley Davidson, especially with his wife Lori and his family and friends. John loved his bike!
John was most content when he was spending time with his wife and children, his family meant everything to him. As his children grew up, he was there for every soccer game for Daniel and softball game for Samantha and even helped out coaching during those years. He was so proud of his children!
John is also survived by his sister, Diane Armano and her husband Karl Armano of Salem, NH; brother,, Russell Smerdon, Jr. of Lawrence, MA; mother-in-law, Carole Baudo of Methuen, MA; sister-in-law, Linda Gallagher and her husband Mark Gallagher of Newburyport, MA. He also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, and his beloved pet, Quincy.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Massachusetts General Hospital for all their love and support they gave John during these last three months.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Wednesday, April 21, 2021, from 4:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.
