John F. Skandier

John F. Skandier, 92, a lifelong resident of Lawrence, passed away May 20, 2018 after a short illness surrounded by his family. He was born February 1, 1926 to the late John and Mary (Carbonello) Skandier.

A U. S. Marine Corps Corporal, John served as a sharp shooter and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was employed by AT&T as a supervisor before retiring after thirty-seven years. John enjoyed spending time with his family, most especially his wife, Wanda, who was the center of his universe.

He was predeceased by his son, Edward Skandier; brother, Samuel Skandier; and his sister, Katherine Skandier.

John is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Wanda M. (Salem) Skandier of Lawrence; children, Carol McQuaid and her husband, Daniel of North Andover, John P. Skandier of Worcester, Mary Joaquin of Methuen, Sandra and Renda Skandier, both of Lawrence. He was adored by his grandchildren, Jill, Kara, Kristin, Michael, Mark, Brian and Cori; and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind brothers, Joseph and Anthony Carbonello; and sister, Joy Ouelette; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. His funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, May 24th at St. Anthony Maronite Church, 145 Amesbury Street in Lawrence. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Methuen.
