John N. "Jack" Fitzpatrick, Sr., 86, of Methuen, MA, passed away on November 1, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Boston, MA, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 22, 1935, he was the son of the late Nelson and Rita (Daley) Fitzpatrick. He was married to the love of his life, Mary Ann, for 62 years and he was pre-deceased by his son, John N. Fitzpatrick, Jr.
Born in Lawrence, MA, Jack attended local schools. Upon graduation from Central Catholic High School, class of 1953, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served during the Korean Conflict. After he returned from the Army, he furthered his education by attending Merrimack College and graduating from Suffolk University.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Jack enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
John worked for 25-plus years at Raytheon before his retirement. He was also employed by the City of Lawrence and was a commissioner at the Lawrence Airport. A lover of the game of golf, he was a member at the Haverhill Country Club for many years. Jack was very well known for his participation in the Hispanic festivals and community in Lawrence. He also was an active participant in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and an avid Boston sports fan.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, Karen Fitzpatrick-Picarillo and her husband Steve of Salem, NH, Chuck Fitzpatrick and his wife Jennifer of Wells, ME, Kathleen Durkin and her husband Robert of Windham, NH; his grandchildren, Julianne and Chad Fitzpatrick, Katie, John and Robert Durkin; his brother, Nelson Fitzpatrick and his wife Terry; his sister, Sheila Dregne and her husband Darrel; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, November 4, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 5, 2021, at 11:00 AM at St. Lucy Parish, 254 Merrimack Street in Methuen. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 29 Barker Street in Lawrence.
