John J. Bonanno

John J. Bonanno, 89, peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at Lawrence General Hospital. Born on April 28, 1934, he was the son of the late Joseph and Italia (Sambataro) Bonanno, and the husband of Nancy (Catalano) Bonanno.

John was born and raised in Lawrence, MA. After graduating from High school he proudly served in the United States Navy. He worked at Western Electric as a computer operator for over 30 years. In his free time John loved to travel spending many winters in Florida with his wife, traveling to Europe and visiting one of his favorite places, Saratoga Springs. He loved to listen to music, especially Big Band sounds and artists such as Frank Sinatra. John was an avid Boston sports fan and enjoyed watching horse races. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

John will be deeply missed and is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Bonanno of Methuen, MA; loving sons, John J. Bonanno Jr. of Vienna, VA, and David P. Bonanno of Tarzana, CA, as well as his grandchild, Peter M. Bonanno and his wife Sarah of Coppell, TX. Along with his parents, John is pre-deceased by his sister, Brenda Bonanno.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. A prayer service will take place in the funeral home chapel at 4:00 PM.
