Johanne F. Smith

Johanne Smith, 78 of Methuen,MA, passed away on June 2, 2019. Born in Woburn, MA, Johanne was one of three sisters, born to the late William and Blanche McCloskey. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Sheila Marchand. 

Johanne is survived by her husband of 59 years, Edward F. Smith; her son, Edward Smith and his wife Jayna Smith of Dunstable, MA; her daughters, Lisa McHardy, and her husband John of Methuen, Jeanine Smith of Scottsdale, AZ, Johanne Smith of Boston, and Laina Smith of Methuen; sister, Mary Brogna Stiebli, and her husband Manfred of Cornville, AZ; grandchildren, Alexis Arsenault, Shannon Smith, Carly Smith, Chloe McHardy, Bianca Roberts and John Roberts; also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. 

Johanne was an avid painter and her artwork reflects her love of the ocean and is displayed in many of her friends and family’s homes. She traveled annually to Martha’s Vineyard, and absolutely loved the beach and swimming. In addition, she enjoyed her many years as a volunteer for the Methuen Senior Center, where she received awards for her dedication. Johanne is most remembered for caring for her family and being the caregiver of her grandchildren when they were babies.

Johanne will always be remembered for her radiant smile, her infectious laughter, and her wonderful sense of humor. She was a wonderful wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. Johanne will be missed every day and was a true angel that walked the earth.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, June 7, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM in the funeral home, following the visiting hours. Entombment will be held at Eternal Light Mausoleum, Salem, NH.
