Joanne K. Mills

Joanne K. (Putis) Mills, 72, of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2020 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Garrett J. Mills with whom she shared 44 wonderful years in marriage.

The daughter of the late Edward and Evelyn (Adams) Putis, Joanne was born and raised in Boston, MA. She attended Cardinal Cushing High School in South Boston and graduated from North Reading High School. She later began working in the insurance industry and for more than twenty years was the proud owner/operator of Joanne K. Mills Insurance Agency in Methuen. Joanne was an exemplary agent with Metropolitan Life Insurance, proud to have been named agent of the year in 2009.

A dedicated, hard worker who committed many hours to her career, Joanne was still able to be there for her family, and will be remembered by them for her faithful attendance to their sporting events. An avid fan, she enjoyed watching the New England Patriots. Memories she cherished most were trips to Atlantic City with her husband Garrett and the many family trips to the Caribbean. A social person by nature, Joanne was certain to stay connected with family and friends, whether they were from her days growing up in Boston or later in North Reading.

Joanne is survived by her son, Todd S. Mills and his wife Kerry of Methuen; granddaughters, Ava Mills and Cara Mills; one Aunt, Anne (Putis) Downes; siblings, John Putis, Edward Putis, Barbara DeVincentis, and Patricia Marrazzi; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Honoring her wishes, Joanne’s family will hold services in private with the assistance of Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Monica’s school, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen, 01844
