Joanne Adele Melillo, 72, of Atkinson, NH, and former resident of Methuen, MA, peacefully passed away on the morning of Thursday, July 16, 2020, in the comfort of her own home. Joanne was surrounded with love by family and friends.
Born and raised in Lawrence, MA, Joanne graduated from Lawrence High School in 1966 and continued her education at Burdette Business College, receiving her Associates degree. She worked at Piscitello Law Firm in Lawrence until she and her late husband, Anthony, opened and operated Main Street Liquors in North Andover, MA. Following her death, the store has closed its doors indefinitely.
JoJo enjoyed watching the Patriots, regular lunch dates with close friends, and making lifelong friends while visiting the Lawrence British Club. She loved vacationing in Cancun, Mexico and spending time with her grandchildren, as well.
Joanne was the daughter of late Anthony and Adele (Platek) Moll, predeceased by husband, Anthony R. Melillo, and companion, Timothy C. Yerian. She is survived by son, Liberato Melillo and wife Renee Melillo, of Atkinson, NH; step-children, Anthony Melillo and wife Maureen of Medfield, MA, Richard Melillo, of North Andover, Valerie Scione and husband William, of North Andover, and Laurie Burzlaff and husband Kurt, of North Andover; grandchildren, Jaxson and Julian; brother, Anthony Moll and wife Maureen, of Waterville Valley, NH; and several nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren; and dear friend, Cheryl Lafoe, of Methuen.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to visit with her family between 9:00-11:00 AM, Friday July 24, 2020, at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to PFFM Foundation New England Cancer Fund Network. Checks can be sent “In Memory of Joanne Melillo,” at 2 Center Plaza, Suite 4M, Boston, MA 02108. This organization provides cancer screenings for New England Firefighters.
