Jean Torres

Mary Jean Torres, “Jean”, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Blaire House of Tewksbury Assisted Living, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 23, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Grace (Kotce) VanScyoc and the wife of the late John R. Torres.

Jean happily lived most of her life in Methuen, MA. She was born in Lawrence, MA and graduated from St. Patrick High School in Lawrence. She attended Merrimack College and obtained a certificate from the Travel School of America. She worked at A.F. Gullon in Boston, MA, where she met her loving husband, John R. Torres. A hard worker, Jean consistently worked while raising her six children. Her job as a travel consultant allotted her the opportunity to travel often during her career as well as in her retirement. Jean also enjoyed spending her winters in Florida, trips to Foxwoods, line dancing, and reading. She loved her family more than anything and loved spending time with them. Jean was a parishioner of St. Theresa Church in Methuen. She had a kind heart and was a proud member of the Rainbow Club and Red Hat Society of Methuen.

Along with her husband John, Jean is pre-deceased by her beloved son, Mark Torres. Jean will be deeply missed and is survived by her loving children: Sue Morgan and her husband Bill of Pelham, NH, Rick Torres and his wife Cathy of Andover, MA, Jim Torres and his wife Cheryl of Methuen, MA, Mike Torris and his wife Marie of Atkinson, NH, Chris Torres and his partner Rosie of Salisbury, MA; her daughter in-law, AnnMarie Torres of Methuen, MA; her beloved grandchildren, Alyssa Gowing and her husband Alexandre, Caitlin Masson and her husband Tyler, Josh Torres and his wife Kristen, Christine Michaelidis and her husband Emmanuel, Jessica Torres, James Torres, Jaclyn Torres-Roth and her wife Hannah, Brittany Dick and her husband Joshua, Julia Torres, Jordan Torres, Adam Torris, and Ryan Torris. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Remy Gowing, Nina Torres, Eleanor Masson, and Henry Dick.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, September 7, 2023, from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. A funeral mass will take place on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Theresa Church, 22 Plymouth Street, Methuen. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, 130 N. Lowell Street, Methuen.
