James B. Rowan

James B. Rowan, 75, of Methuen, formerly of North Andover,  passed away Sunday, August 4, 2019 at High Pointe House in Haverhill, with his loving family by his side.  Born in Lawrence, he was the son of the late James and Doris (Duemmling) Rowan and step-son of the late William Longworth.

A graduate of Central Catholic High School, Jim served with the US Navy.  He was a retired gas technician and worked for Baystate Gas Company for forty years.  After his retirement he enjoyed collecting and selling antiques, fishing, camping and was a huge Boston sports fan.  He was also a member of the Howard Association, which raises money for local charities. 

Jim was predeceased by his daughter, Patricia Rowan-Nadeau, and is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret (Tobin) Rowan; his dear children: Kelly Curtin and her husband, Joseph of Methuen, Mary Pepin of Haverhill, James Rowan of Lynn, Kimberly Rowan-Welt and her husband, Andrew of CA, Christopher Rowan of North Andover, Joy Townley-Hyatt and her husband, Henry of VT, Robin Townley-Shone and her husband, Al of Derry, NH, Kim Townley-Serris and her husband, Johnny of Somerville, Ron McNutt and his wife, Tina of North Andover, and Melissa McNutt-Curtis and her companion, Wayne Mottram, II of Methuen; and his brother-in-law, Edward Tobin of Methuen.  He also leaves his fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, whom he cherished.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, August 8, 2019 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen.  His funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 9, 2019 at St. Michael Church, 196 Main Street in North Andover.
