James P. Perkins. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of James P. Perkins, 70, of Methuen, on May 23, 2018. Born in Lawrence, he was the son of the late Henry and Anne (Hynes) Perkins.
Jim was raised in Lawrence and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. He studied business at New Hampshire College of Accounting & Commerce. He worked for many years as an analyst for the Internal Revenue Service in Andover. He was also a parishioner of St. Mary the Assumption Church in Lawrence.
An avid skier, Jim traveled throughout New England hitting the slopes. He even tackled the Swiss Alps and Canadian Rockies with great joy. He taught the sport to his nieces and nephew as well as his grandnieces and grandnephews, who will always cherish the memories of these times with Uncle Jim. He enjoyed spending time at the family summer home in Wentworth, New Hampshire. A year-round retreat that he and his family built starting in the 1960s. He took many family trips to Ireland to visit relatives on the old sod, always being greeted with “Welcome Home.” He also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. His last excursion was a two-week road trip in his truck to Colorado, Wyoming, and South Dakota.
Jim was predeceased by his loved sister-in-law, Maryanne (Greene) Perkins.
He is survived by his loving brother, Henry C. Perkins, Jr. of South Carver, MA; loving nieces, Kathleen Perkins of Wareham, MA, Beth Raymond of Plymouth, MA and Christina Adkins and her husband Thomas of Wareham, MA; loving nephew, Sean Perkins of Carver, MA. He also leaves adoring grandnieces, grandnephews, and a great-grandniece.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 6:00-9:00 pm at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.
