Tribute

James J. Palermo, 49, of Lawrence, MA, passed away June 24, 2020, at Lawrence General Hospital.  He was born in Methuen, raised in Lawrence, and was a graduate of the Greater Lawrence Technical High School.
 
Jim worked in the greater Merrimack Valley area in plant maintenance as a construction laborer and as a security guard.  He enjoyed dancing, coaching South Lawrence Little League Baseball, and spending time with friends at Dunkins as well as the Fireside.
 
Predeceased by his father, Charles Palermo, Jim is survived by his mother, Gae (Piazza) Palermo of Lawrence and his brothers, Richard Palermo of Lawrence, David Palermo of Plainville, MA, and Michael Palermo of Foxboro, MA.  He also leaves his aunts,  Josephine and her husband Rev. Ed O’Mara and Rita and her husband Bob DeFusco; great-aunt, Camy Piazza; his dear friend and companion, Karen Bodenrader, the Russek family, and many cousins.

The Palermo family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the many nurses and doctors who cared for Jim throughout the years, especially the staff at Lawrence General Hospital and the Nizhoni Health visiting nurses.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim’s name can be made to American Lung Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
