James “Jimmy” Kerr, 62, of Lawrence, MA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous but brief battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Rita Bonazzo-Kerr, having shared thirty-two beautiful years together.
Born in Washington, DC, Jimmy was raised and educated in Tewksbury, MA, the son of Dvoralyn Kerr and the late Frank Kerr. He was proud to retire after a forty-one year career at Raytheon.
Very social by nature, Jimmy, with his wonderful sense of humor, loved to surround himself with family and friends, whether at a special event or a time spent during the weekend. He enjoyed music, camping, and playing his guitar. He spent a great deal of time in Maine, both near the ocean and inland, where he explored nature, fished, and was delighted by the quiet moments. Many of those adventures were shared with his little dog, Max. He will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, and respect shown to others.
In addition to his loving wife Rita, and cherished mother, Jimmy is survived by his son, Christopher Kerr of Winthrop, MA; siblings, Standolyn Robertson and her husband Jamie of Los Angeles, CA, Renee Joseph and her husband Adrian of Westlake, OH, Gary Kerr and his wife Grace of Methuen, MA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother-in-law, Mary Bonazzo and survived by a host of in-laws that will remember him fondly.
In place of flowers, tribute donations in Jimmy’s memory may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Avenue, 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851 or via https://www.myeloma.org/about-imf.
