James F. Coen Jr.

A devoted and loving husband and father and a wonderful friend to many, James "Jim" Francis Coen, Jr. of Atkinson, NH, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at age 60. He was just shy of celebrating 25 years of marriage to his beloved wife, Catherine Zerba, whom he married on August 4, 1996.  He adored and was extremely proud of his two children, James Coen, III, 24, and Jennifer Coen, 22, and his 'fur grandkids', Zeus and Tucker. He loved his family immensely and lived his life for them.

Jim was born in Lawrence, MA, on October 3, 1960, to Captain James F. Coen, Sr., USCG (Ret.) and Emma Marie (Coletti) Coen. After living in many different places such as North Andover, MA, Rockland, ME, Cape May, NJ, Honolulu, HI, Homer, AK, Mystic, CT, and Governors Island, NY, due to his father’s career in the US Coast Guard, Jim received his bachelor's degree from Plymouth State University in 1983 and resided in Atkinson, NH since 1996. He was a successful sales professional in the flooring industry in the Greater Boston area for 37+ years winning numerous Circle of Distinction awards.  He loved hosting an annual golf tournament for his clients and work associates, raising money to donate to different charitable organizations each year. 

Jim's personality was larger than life and he emulated kindness, sincerity, laughter and love to all of his friends and family.  He was passionate about spending time with them playing golf as a member at Renaissance Golf Course, traveling to any warm weather destinations and meeting up for regular lunches. He loved maintaining his lawn with countless hours of landscaping and yard work, always finding a new project to do after just finishing one. He was known for his generosity, infectious personality, smile and his kind and genuine spirit.  

Jim was predeceased by his father, Jim, and his mother, Marie; his uncle, Anthony J. Coletti, Sr.; brother-in-law, Carl Coder; and father-in-law, Roger T. Zerba. He is survived by his sister, Deb Coen-Coder of North Andover, MA; his brothers and sisters-in law, Lt. Col Thomas Zerba, USAFR (Ret), his wife Tracy and their daughter Grace of Springboro, OH, Jim Zerba, his wife Gina and their children Maloree and Brennan of Riverside, CA, Mark Zerba, his wife Alexandra and their daughter Anna of Bow, NH; his aunt, Jane Coletti of Seabrook, NH and his two cousins, Glen and AJ Coletti; his uncle, Carl Coletti and his wife Carol of Whitefish, MT and his cousins, Cathy and Craig Coletti; and nieces and nephews, who always loved his radiant personality at family gatherings.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844 or to Atkinson Youth Baseball, P.O. Box 460 Atkinson, NH 03811.
