James E. Cunneen

Dr. James E. Cunneen, Sr., 72, of East Kingston, NH passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House surrounded by his family. He was born and raised in Lawrence and was the son of the late John and Irene (Rondeau) Cunneen.

Dr. Cunneen was a graduate of Lawrence High School, Suffolk University, Northeastern University and received his Doctorate of Education from Boston College. He was a retired principal of the Dr. H.O. Smith Elementary School in Hudson, NH. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed shooting at gun clubs. He was also a Vietnam Veteran and served his country with the U.S. Air Force.

Dr. Cunneen was predeceased by his sisters, Joanne Peters and Shirley Grey, and his beloved dog, Maddie.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Novak) Cunneen; daughter, Elizabeth Cunneen of Salem, NH; son, James “Jamie” Cunneen, Jr. and his wife Nicole of Haverhill; granddaughters, Dylan and Mackenzie and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 29, 2017 in the funeral home chapel.
