James E. Carney, Sr., 91, of Methuen, MA, passed away Monday, January 6, 2020. He was born in Methuen, the son of the late James and Anna (Connelly) Carney.
A lifelong resident of Methuen, Jim was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and Wentworth Institute in Boston. He worked at United Shoe Machinery and retired after many years working for the Methuen Housing Authority. He was a member of St. Monica Parish in Methuen and served with the US Army from 1950-1952.
Jim was predeceased by his daughters, Colleen and Cathleen Carney, and his sister, Mary McGurn.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Constance (Langille) Carney; son, James E. Carney, Jr. of Fremont, NH; sister, Claire Lesaffre of Methuen, sister-in-law, Grace McKay of Methuen, and his dear friend, Nancy Carace and her husband Andy of Kingston, NH. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Monday, January 13, 2020, from 8:30-10:30 AM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 AM at St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence Street in Methuen. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.
