Irene R. LaPlante

Irene R. (Aiello) LaPlante, 83, of Lawrence passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Mary Immaculate Nursing Home with family by her side. Irene was born in Lawrence, the first-born daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Bellia) Aiello.

Irene was a secretary for many years, working at the Central Office Building in Lawrence, Grieco Brothers in the Lawrence mills, and Rivers by the Sea in York, ME. She lived in Kingston, NH and York, ME for much of her adult life.

Irene enjoyed traveling, especially with her husband Don. They would regularly attend reunions of the Rakkasan 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team, of which Don served as a paratrooper. They often took her nieces and nephews on those trips. She enjoyed spending time with her family, most especially her two sisters, Nina and Frances, whom she loved dearly, and her six nieces and nephews.

Irene is survived by her two brothers-in-law, Matteo Cascio of Lawrence and Gandolfo Cascio of Lawrence; and her nieces and nephews, Lisa M. Cascio of Andover, Matthew Cascio and his wife April Garvey of Aldie, VA, Lori A. Morris and her husband Jonathan of Methuen, Kristina Garcia and her husband Michael of North Andover, Marc C. Cascio of East Bridgewater, and Jaclyn A. Giannakoulis and her husband Paul of Stoughton. She leaves six beautiful great-nieces and nephews, Brady and Gavin Morris, Sonny, Nico and Cece Garcia, and Payton Cascio. Irene is predeceased by her husband, Donald E. LaPlante; and two sisters, Frances M. Cascio and Nina T. Cascio.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, March 8, 2020, from 12:00-2:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen, MA. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 9, 2020, at 10:00 AM at Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex Street in Lawrence, MA. Burial will follow at St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
