Gregory “Sonny” Pitocchelli passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019, at Lawrence General Hospital. He was born in Lawrence and was the first New Year Baby in 1980. He grew up in Pelham and attended Pelham High School. He moved to Methuen in 1998 and remained there until his passing.
Sonny had many talents and excelled with home repair, electronics, and plumbing; you name it he fixed it. Later, he worked under Union Local 175 in commercial demolition. He also worked in several restaurants and was a great cook; he enjoyed cooking for his friends. He took great pride in his famous Thanksgiving dinners. Most recently, he was the primary caregiver to his 90-year-old Papa Peety. Greg was an amazing caregiver and was loving, compassionate, and nurturing. He was planning to launch a new chapter in his life and enroll in LNA classes.
He recently took up oil painting and enjoyed reading historical novels. He was also an accomplished and certified tattoo artist. He loved the WWF and he adored his pug, Lola, Growing up he spent time at his grandmother Honey’s fishing and water skiing.
Sonny’s life seems far too short, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His gentle smile, his gigantic presence, and thoughtfulness brought so much joy to all who knew him. He will be sadly missed, fondly remembered and revered for his wonderful sunny position and carefree outlook on life. LIVE LIFE LARGE - so said, Sonny.
