Gloria B. (Savinelli) Morley passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 25, 2019. She was born on August 8, 1924, to parents Dominic Savinelli and Ida (Grande) Savinelli of Lawrence, MA.
Gloria attended Lawrence Schools and as a teen she went to work in the Lawrence Mills as did most people her age. In 1952, Gloria married Joseph T. Morley and shortly thereafter, gave birth to three sons, Michael, Matthew and James Morley. She dedicated her life to her family, as her children were the most important people in her life and she loved being home with them every day. Gloria was the best mother a child could ask for. She was always there when they needed her and encouraged them to be the best people they could be.
When the boys were older, Gloria worked as a lunch aide in the Lawrence public schools. This was the perfect job for her as she loved children and they loved her. She loved to cook and her Italian meatballs were so delicious that they are still talked about by anyone who tasted them.
Gloria’s hobby was scrapbooking long before it became popular. Her scrapbooks date back to the 1930s. She cut out everything from newspapers that she felt important to others and herself. She neatly put everything in books and dated them.
So many people loved Gloria, as she cared for and welcomed everyone. Kids were drawn to her because of her kindness and the glint in her eye when she was with them.
Gloria is survived by her son, Michael D. Morley of Haverhill and his wife Sharon Mickee Morley, Matthew D. Morley of Methuen and his wife, JoAnn Bush Morley, and James D. Morley of Methuen; her beloved grandchildren: Melanie Morley Foley and husband Kevin of North Andover, Michael D. Morley, II of Haverhill, Ashley Morley of Methuen, Christine Morley of Haverhill, James Morley of Methuen, and Juliana Morley of Methuen; and her beloved great-grandchildren: Keira Foley, Maeve Foley, and Brendan Foley of North Andover, and James Cole of Methuen; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to call on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Her funeral mass will take place at St. Lucy Parish, 254 Merrimack in Methuen on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
