Giovanna DeFrancesco

Giovanna DeFrancesco, 84, of Methuen, MA, passed away on November 1, 2021, at Holy Family Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 26, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Santa (Pappalardo) LaRosa.

Born and raised in Catalina, Italy, Giovanna moved to the United States in her mid-twenties. She lived in Lawrence, MA, where she worked as a seamstress at Grieco Brothers, and met the love of her life, Anthony J. DeFrancesco. They started a family together and she became a homemaker, raising their children. Giovanna loved to cook, take care of her plants, and spend time with her family, her grandchildren were her world.

Along with her parents, Giovanna is pre-deceased by her husband of fifty-six years, Anthony J. DeFrancesco; and her siblings, Rosa, Carmelina, and Giuseppe.

Giovanna will be deeply missed and is survived by her children, Richard DeFrancesco of Methuen, Joann DeFrancesco and her husband, Cosimo Paone of Methuen, Jerel DeFrancesco and his wife, Mascia of Revere, MA; siblings, Maria Spina, Antonio LaRosa, Benito LaRosa; and grandchildren, Nicole, Richard, Arthur, Clelia, Anthony, Isabella, and Athena. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a graveside service on Monday, November 8, 2021, at 10:30 AM at Elmwood Cemetery, 130 North Lowell Street in Methuen.
