George W. Pierog, 104, of Methuen, MA, peacefully passed away at Nevins Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, November 20, 2020. Born on July 6, 1916 in Lawrence, MA, he was the son of the late Stanislaus Pierog and Mary (Kmiec) Pierog.
Born and raised in the Merrimack Valley area, George was a very well-known, respected man who made many friends. For many years he owned and operated George’s Hair Salon in Lawrence. He married the love of his life, Blanche (Kozak) Pierog, with whom he shared seventy-five years of marriage. His family meant everything to him. He always looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, George was also pre-deceased by his son, Ronald G. Pierog.
George will be deeply missed and is survived by his wife, Blanche (Kozak) Pierog; son, Kenneth V. Pierog and his wife Maureen, of Harwich Port, MA; daughter in-law, Sheila of Wakefield, NH; grandchildren, LeeAnn Allaire, Lisa Pierog, and Michael Pierog; along with seven great-grandchildren.
The Pierog family would like to thank the staff of the Transitional Care Unit at the Nevins Nursing and Rehab Center for their years of exceptional care and compassion.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Tuesday, November 24, 2020, from 9:00-10:30 AM at Cataudella funeral home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral mass will be held at St. Lucy Parish in Methuen at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
