Fred Collings, 80, of Lawrence, passed away at Highpoint Hospice House in Haverhill on Thursday, December 20, 2018.
Born, raised and educated in Lawrence, Fred was one of three siblings born to the late Seymour and Helen (Los) Collings.
Fred retired as a supply room supervisor from the Internal Revenue Service, Andover, MA.
Fred was an avid traveler for most of his life. He enjoyed traveling all over Europe and even had the opportunity to explore Egypt, which was one of his favorite cultures to study.
In addition to his interests, music had always been a part of Fred’s life. He was fond of opera and classical music and was a former member of the Andover Choral Society.
A private and sensitive person, Fred will always be remembered as a warm and gentle man, who will be forever loved and missed by all.
Sadly, in addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by his sister, Helen Bourdelais.
Fred is lovingly survived by his brother, Sidney Collings and his wife Beverly of Murrells Inlet, SC; niece, Corinne M. Collings-Currier and her husband Louis of Winter Haven, FL; and nephew, Mark L. Collings of Murrells Inlet, SC.; grandnieces, Brittany of Florida and Audrey of Vermont, and grandnephew Tyler Currier of Florida.
Those who knew and loved Fred are respectfully invited to attend a graveside service on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10 AM in Spring Grove Cemetery, 124 Abbot Street, Andover, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fred’s honor to the American Cancer Society, Centralized Memorial Processing Center, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
