Francis J. Farrell

Francis J. “Frank” Farrell, 71, of Methuen, MA, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019.  Born in Methuen, he was the son of the late Francis and Alice (Roache) Farrell.
 
Raised in Methuen, Frank was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, class of 1965.  He attended Boston College and graduated as a History major in 1969. He continued his education with a law degree from Suffolk Law School and master’s degrees in Accounting and Taxation from Rutgers University and Boston University, respectively.
 
Frank was a certified public accountant and attorney and was a partner at Blinn, Farrell & Company in Haverhill since 1985. He enjoyed playing Bridge and participating in tournaments. He was an avid reader and enjoyed history specifically the Civil War. He loved Irish music and traveling. Some of his favorite trips with his wife Lorraine included Ireland, Italy, and Yellowstone. Frank also loved his family vacations with his children and grandchildren to Disney World, Hilton Head, the White Mountains, Salisbury beach, and Hawaii. Frank always appreciated his nightly glass of red wine and most of all spending time with his cherished grandchildren, Ryan and Julia.

Frank suffered a severe fall in November of 2018 that damaged his spinal cord and left him paralyzed from the neck down. He fought hard to overcome this obstacle and showed a powerful spirit to continue his daily fight to live with his disability. His caretakers, wife Lorraine and sister-in-law, Diane worked tirelessly to care for his extensive medical needs. He finally succumbed to his injury and peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family.

Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Lorraine (Marino) Farrell of 45 years; his children, Michael Farrell and his wife Allison of North Andover and Rebecca Devendorf and her husband Sean of Newburyport; his sister, Elaine Farrell and her husband Joseph Trombly of North Andover; his sister-in-law, Diane Griffin of Methuen; and his grandchildren, Ryan and Julia Farrell.
 
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen.  His funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 27, 2019 at St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence St. Methuen.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in Frank’s memory to the Travis Roy Foundation at www.travisroyfoundation.org/donate.
