Florence M. Haddad, 96, of Methuen, formerly of Lawrence, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Cedar View Nursing Home in Methuen. Born Laorenza Iucolano, she was pre-deceased by her parents, Paolo and Luigina (Amorelli) Iucolano; her husband, William Haddad; and her sister, Margaret Nigrelli. Florence was a graduate of Lawrence High School, class of 1935.
Florence was a dedicated mother and grandmother and her loving smile will be missed by all who knew her. She loved to cook for her family and friends, and baking was her passion. No one ever left her house hungry, and she was well known for her Italian cookies, which she shared with many.
Her professional career spanned an impressive seventy years. Of all the positions she held, the ones she most treasured were as the manager of the original Beaconway Store in Lawrence and as billing supervisor at New England Neurological Associates of North Andover, from which she retired in 1995.
Florence was an active member of the Young at Hearts Club, Moving on Group, Sons of Italy Ladies Auxiliary, and she was also very involved with the Lawrence Senior Center from 1980 to 2014.
Florence is survived by her son, William Haddad and his wife Elaine of North Andover; daughter, Pauline DiTommaso and her husband David of Methuen, with whom she resided for many years; grandchildren, Julie Cullen and her husband David of Burlington and Alyssa Haddad and her husband Jon Spongberg of CT; and her great-grandchildren, Thomas, Shane, William and Taylor.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex Street, Lawrence. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, donations in Florence’s name may be made to Children’s Dyslexia Center, Boston North, P.O.
