Evelyn P. DiDio
November 13, 1932 ~ January 23, 2020 (age 87) 87 Years Old
Evelyn P. (DiNoto) DiDio, 87, of Methuen and formerly of Lawrence, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2020 with her family by her side.
Born in Lawrence and raised in Methuen, Evelyn graduated from Searles High School in 1949 and spent thirty years working for the IRS as a tax review auditor. In 1950, she married her best friend and childhood neighbor, Charles DiDio, and together they shared sixty-four wonderful years of marriage. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, Nana, and great-Nana.
Evelyn and Charles loved to travel with their friends and family, including many trips to Florida, the Caribbean, and Las Vegas. In retirement, she enjoyed winters in Florida where she could spend time with her sisters relaxing, shopping, and enjoying the sunshine.
Family is what mattered most to Evelyn. One of her favorite pastimes was to spend long days at Salisbury Beach, cooking her famous chicken cutlets and eggplant, playing cards and checkers, watching the Price is Right and Jay Leno, and playing with her grandchildren. Committed to keeping her family’s Italian traditions alive, Evelyn was always sure to bring her family together every Sunday for an afternoon of food, laughter, and love.
She will be sadly missed by her children: Richard DiDio and his wife Barbara of Methuen, Marie Comeau and her husband Mark of Methuen, Michael DiDio of Austin, TX; grandchildren: Michael DiDio, Matthew DiDio, Mark Comeau, Lindsay Comeau, Erica Comeau, Stephanie (DiDio) Plankey, Zachary DiDio; great-grandchildren: Caiden and Cora DiDio, Evelina and Josephina Comeau-Ntourakis; in-laws, Mildred and Anthony DiDio; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceased by her parents, Paul and Mary (Scuito) DiNoto; her sisters: Mildred Dardis, Angela Zannini, Josephine Jacobellis; brother, Sam DiNoto; granddaughter, Deidre DiDio, and best friend and sister-in-law, Jennie Santacroce.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visitation between the hours of 4:00-8:00 PM on Friday, January 31, 2020 at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Burial will be held in private at the convenience of the family.
