Tribute

Eugene C. “Gene” Rosinski, age 79, of Merrimac, MA, and former longtime resident of Lawrence, MA, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Holy Family Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Eugene P. Rosinski and Janina (Malyn) Rosinski of Lawrence, MA.

Born and raised in Lawrence, MA, Gene was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, class of 1960, after which he graduated from the New England Institute of Anatomy, class of 1967. During his career, Gene was proud to serve his community, and was a third-generation funeral director and the owner of Salem Street Funeral Home in Lawrence, MA, which his father established. Gene also owned and operated North Andover Building Center (formerly the Weber Lumber Company) for many years.

Gene was a loving and devoted partner, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who touched countless lives. One of his favorite things to do so was to spend time with his children and grandchildren as well as with his loving life-partner’s children and grandchildren. He relished time spent with family for holidays, birthdays, graduations, and never missed “Sunday donuts,” a tradition he began twenty-three years ago with his grandchildren, Victoria and Allison. He had a passion for woodworking, and built countless pieces of beautiful furniture for his family and friends over the years, which will live on with his legacy. Gene never met a stranger and was always willing to share a colorful joke, inspirational story and a warm embrace. His infectious laugh, bright smile and ability to make everyone feel loved will never be forgotten. His legacy of being able to “walk between the raindrops” will also continue to live on with his memory. Gene was always willing to lend a hand or an ear to anyone in need and his loving and charismatic personality will be deeply missed.

Gene was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Frank Elander.

He is survived by his significant life partner, Carol A. Hamman of Merrimac, MA; daughters, Laurie Wilson and her fiancé Don Evans of Houston, Texas and Janine Holdsworth of Haverhill, MA; granddaughters, Victoria Holdsworth of Fitchburg, MA and Allison Holdsworth of Haverhill, MA; his former wife, Camille (Buonanno) Rosinski of Haverhill, MA; sisters, Marcia Elander of Durham, NC, Maryanna Grinovich and her husband Ed of Beverly, MA; and nephew and nieces, Adam Grinovich and his wife, Annika, Kathryn (Elander) Samuel and Kristina Grinovich and her fiancé Chris Minear.

Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases, the family requests that all visitors wear a mask regardless of vaccination status.
