Ernest Piccirillo
December 10, 1929 ~ May 29, 2019 (age 89) 89 Years Old
Ernest Piccirillo, 89, a highly-decorated veteran of Methuen, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 29, 2019. He was born in Lawrence, MA, on December 10, 1929, the son of the late Peter and Elizebeta (Corrente) Piccirillo.
Raised and educated in Methuen, Ernest enrolled in the United States Army upon graduating. He proudly served in the United States Army for over twenty-five years and retired as a Sergeant First Class. During his military career, he served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, as well as the Berlin Airlift. After retiring from the service, Ernie continued to work in service to his community. He was known around town as “Big E. Mason.” Ernie never turned down a job and always promised good work at a fair price. He was known most for his stone walls and brick steps. His most treasured moments were times spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ernest also loved to cook large meals for his family, gardening, bowling, horseback-riding, but mostly taking care of friends and family.
Ernest will always be remembered for his big heart and sense of humor. He was an honest and gentle man.
He was predeceased by his cherished wives, Lorraine (Fournier) Piccirillo, and Klara (Rudolph) Piccirillo; brother, Guido Piccirillo; and sister-in-law, Frances Piccirillo.
Ernest is survived by his daughters, Renate Hatem of Methuen, and Christine Pineau and her husband, Richard of Methuen; grandchildren, Ferris Hatem, Farrah DiMaggio and her husband, Mark, Melissa Blaney and her husband, Colin, Adam Pineau and his wife, Caroline; and seven great-grandchildren: Jack, Mark, Klara, Emma, Grace, Molly, and Charlie; sister, Rita Sammataro and her husband, Alphonse of North Andover; brother, Peter Piccirillo and his wife, Carol of Londonderry, NH. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Monday, June 3, 2019 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, June 4th at 11:00 AM at St. Lucy Church, 254 Merrimack Street in Methuen. Burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, North Lowell Street in Methuen.
