Elena A. Ganem

Elena A. (Spaziante) Ganem, 86, of Methuen passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the Methuen Village.  She was born in Worcester and was the daughter of the late Frank and Filomena (Vigliotti) Spaziante.

Elena was raised in Worcester and graduated from Commerce High School.  She retired from the Internal Revenue Service where she worked as a tax examiner.  After her retirement, she worked and volunteered for twenty-six years at the Methuen Senior Center.  Some of her roles and responsibilities at the center included President of the Methuen Senior Center, Secretary of the Council on Aging, receptionist, and volunteer coordinator.  She and her husband organized and oversaw many senior cabarets, trips to Foxwoods, and numerous fundraising events for the center, which earned them the Distinguished Service for Senior Award.  

Elena was predeceased by her husband, Albert G. Ganem, Sr. and her siblings, Albert and Anthony Spaziante, and Maria Sacco.

Elena is survived by her daughter, Gail F. Ganem of Methuen; her son, Albert G. Ganem, Jr. and his wife Lynda of Worcester and their three children, Albert III, Sarah, and Samuel.  She is also survived by her siblings, Frank and Ann Spaziante, and many nieces and nephews. Elena's grandchildren were the "light of her life" and she enjoyed every moment with them.  A day did not go by without them being the topic of conversation with family and friends. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 9:00 to11:00 AM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen.  Funeral services will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Methuen.  For directions or to send condolences, please visit www.cataudellafh.com.
