Eleanor M. George

Eleanor M. George passed away at Mass General Hospital on June 27, 2018.  She was born on March 28, 1930, the daughter of the late From and Haseeba (Kannan) George.  

Eleanor was a graduate of Johnson High School, class of 1948; Wheaton College in Norton, MA where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1952; and Columbia University Teacher’s College with a Master of Arts degree in Speech Pathology.  She was a member of the Massachusetts Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the American Speech, Hearing and Language Association.

Eleanor was employed as a Speech Pathologist at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Louisville, KY, followed by several years in the Language Clinic at Mass General Hospital.  She later spent twelve years in the North Andover Public Schools where she established a speech therapy program.  Finally, until her retirement in 1995, she was involved with audiometric testing at the offices of Arrigg Eye and Ear Associates.

She leaves her cherished sisters, Arlene G. Cox and Emily G. Arrigg; and her much loved nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Eleanor was predeceased by her sisters, Theodora E. George, Rita G. Ferris; and brother, Theodore C. George.

As per Eleanor’s request, all services will be private. Contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
