Douglas H. Bunker 70, of Methuen, MA, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
Doug was born on August 8, 1949 in Lawrence, to the late Henry P. and Edith G. (Seddon) Bunker. He was a retired lieutenant of the Lawrence Fire Department. He served on the department for 31 years.
Doug served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He was a member of the Lawrence Fire Fighter Association Union Local 146. He was also a member of the Relief’s Inn in Lawrence.
Doug is survived by his wife, Barbara I. (Wunderlich) Bunker of Methuen; and his son, Michael and his wife, Cheryl, of Harpswell, ME. Also, among his survivors are his brother, Henry “Bud” Bunker and his wife, Valerie, of Salem, NH; and his sister, Christine Swihart and her husband, Patrick, of Embden, ME; as well as his grandchildren, Kandace P. and Kyle M. Demers, several brothers -in-law and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Friday, August 23, 2019, from 4:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow with military honors at the veteran’s section at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
