Dorothy Parent

Dorothy A. (DeNuzzio) Parent, 88, of Methuen passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Lawrence, MA, she was the daughter of the late Domenic and Gelsominia (Iannazzo) DeNuzzio.

Raised and educated in the Lawrence School system, Dorothy was a graduate of Lawrence High School, class of 1948. She worked for Kings Department store until it closed and then went on to work at Alpha Industries in Methuen for eleven years as an Administrative Assistant until her retirement in 1992.

Dorothy was a great cook and was especially known for her meatballs and frittatas. She loved camping, especially in Maine, and had many cherished memories of the cross-country trip to the Grand Canyon that she and Emile took after their retirement. She loved dining out and one of her favorites was Clam Haven in Derry, NH. She also enjoyed photography and took hundreds of photographs. She loved exotic parrots and had many over the years. She was also an avid gardener and her flower gardens were spectacular. She couldn't wait for spring each year so she could start planting. But more than anything, she enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her loved ones. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to her. She will be deeply missed by her entire family.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Emile L. Parent, with whom she shared sixty-seven years of marriage, and is also predeceased by seven siblings.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Robert S. Parent and his wife, Debra of Methuen, Barbara A. Mazzaglia and her husband, Dana of Salem, NH, and Nancy E. Parent of Appleton, WA; brother, Michael DeNuzzio and his wife, Barbara of Methuen. She also leaves five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral mass at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 23, 2018 at St. Lucy Church, 254 Merrimack Street in Methuen. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to M.S.P.C.A, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
