Doris E. Turmel

Doris Evelyn (Marsan) Turmel, 89, of Lawrence, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2020, at Mary Immaculate Health Care Center in Lawrence. She was the wife of the late Amedee L. Turmel, with whom she shared forty-five wonderful years of marriage.

The daughter of the late Albani and Alexina (Lessard) Marsan, Doris was born, raised, and educated in Lawrence, and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1948. Following her graduation, Doris began raising a family and eventually went to work for ITT Semi-conductor, one of many companies in the Lawrence Mills. She also dedicated many years of work with Honeywell as an assembly worker and later as an assembly inspector.

Doris first met Amedee at one of the Sacred Heart High School dances and the couple was married just a few years later, settling in Lawrence where they were proud to raise their family. A hard working lady, Doris always found time to enjoy her family and friends, especially their many years of seasonal camping at Old Orchard Beach where they spent many enjoyable days at the beach or evenings relaxing around the campfire with friends and family. She also enjoyed her time knitting, cross stitching, and making quilts for her family. She was an accomplished 10-pin and candlepin bowler, having bowled several perfect games and enjoyed line dancing with her sister, Pauline at the Methuen Senior Center. More than all of these cherished memories, Doris especially loved any time she could spend with her children, grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren.

Doris was predeceased by one daughter, Cynthia Bergman; sister, Gertrude Daigle; brother-in-law, Peter Masse; and sons-in-law, Thomas Holdsworth and Gary Feilteau.

She is survived by her children: Evelyn Holdsworth, of Weymouth, MA, Linda Kenny and her husband James of Bristow, VA, Leonard Turmel of Hudson, NH, Donna Feilteau of Lynn, MA, Debra Sirois and her husband John of Methuen, MA, Dennis Turmel, of Salem, NH, Mark Turmel and his fiancée Lisa of Candia, NH; sister, Pauline Masse; sister-in-law, Dorothy St. Pierre; grandchildren: Richard Malesky, Adam Malesky, Gregory Sirois, Nicholas Sirois, Timothy Sirois, Daniel Sirois, Shaun Getchell, Brian Holdsworth, Joseph Turmel, James Turmel, Kody Turmel; great-grandchildren: Reanne Malesky, Alessandra Sirois, Bianca Sirois, Ava Sirois, Nathan Sirois, Rebecca Sirois, Zachary Getchell, Hannah Getchell, Adam Malesky Jr., and Samuel Malesky.
