Domenic Salvatore Terranova, 88, a long-time resident of Andover, MA, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Sutton Hill Center Nursing Home in North Andover, MA.
Born an American citizen in Sicily, Domenic graduated from Lawrence High School, Tufts University where he was a member of Tau Beta Pi, Lehigh University and Suffolk University Law School. Prior to working as an electrical engineer at Bell Telephone Laboratories in Allentown, PA and the Merrimack Valley Works in North Andover, he served in the United States Navy as a midshipman aboard the battleship USS New Jersey and the cruiser USS Worcester, and as fire control officer aboard the cruiser USS Columbus. Domenic will mostly be remembered for his fifty-three years as a prominent local attorney.
In addition to his working life, Domenic served as a lector at St. Augustine Church in Andover for over twenty years. He also was a member of the Lions Club, the Holy Name Society and was chairman of the Andover Zoning Board of Appeals for many years.
Most of all, Domenic should be remembered as a man who believed in devotion to family, duty to country and service to the community.
Domenic was predeceased by his parents, Grazia and Francesco Terranova of Lawrence, MA. He was also predeceased by son, Francis Joseph, brother Antonio Terranova, granddaughter Christina Michelle, and nephew Frank Terranova. Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years Anna; his three children: Louis Terranova, and his wife Lisa, Grace Terranova, and Domenic F. Terranova, and his wife Brenda; grandchildren: David, Marialisa, Michael, Nicholas and Vincent; his sister in-law, Ramona (Reitano) Terranova; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are respectfully invited to calling hours on Sunday, September 25, 2022, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street Methuen, MA. The funeral Mass will take place on Monday, September 26, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St. Michael Parish Roman Catholic Church, 196 Main Street, North Andover, MA . Burial will follow at St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemeteries, 29 Barker Street, Lawrence, MA.
We ask that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in Domenic’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
