David F. Martin
December 28, 1933 ~ April 5, 2020 (age 86) 86 Years Old
David F. Martin, 86, of Salem, NH passed away on April 5, 2020. Born in Madison, ME, he was the son of the late Gordon and Celina (Bearor) Martin.
Raised and educated in Maine and Methuen, MA, Mr. Martin was a licensed plumber and owned and operated Martin’s Plumbing. He also served as the Plumbing Inspector for City of Methuen.
Mr. Martin was a Korean War veteran and served with the U.S. Navy. He was a past president of the North East Massachusetts Plumbing and Gas Inspectors. He also volunteered his time with the Prospect Hill Little League and served as an umpire. He was a parishioner of Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem, NH.
Mr. Martin’s grandchildren wrote: This is the man who raised himself through life, fought in the Korean War, self-made his own successful career, and raised four sons. He was a constant fixture in the stands at our sports games of all his 13 grandchildren-willingly splitting his time between fields, diamonds, courts, and stages-always wearing the school’s hat to show his pride. This was the man who was a permanent guest at our dinner tables always graciously accepting leftovers or finishing our plates with the familiar smirk and saying “The things I do for you!” This is the man who we loved, cherished, and will always be in our hearts and minds.
Mr. Martin was predeceased by his beloved wife, Claire (Williams) Martin.
He is survived by his children, Kerry Martin and his wife Eileen of Methuen, Scott Martin and his wife Cathy of Salem, NH, Brian Martin and his wife Diane of Methuen, and Paul Martin and his wife Kellie of Salem, NH; brothers, Robert MacDonald and his wife Shirley of Middleboro, MA and Rev. Jon Martin of Alton Bay, NH. He also leaves thirteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Due to the current Covid-19 situation all services will be private. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH. A memorial mass will be announced at a later date. Memorial donation may be made in his memory to New England Center and Home for Veterans at www.nechv.org. Arrangements are by Cataudella Funeral Home, Methuen.
